Donnybrook is a great place from
which to explore the beautiful south-west of Western
Australia.
Just
half an hour in the car can take you to popular Peppermint Grove
Beach, to Bunbury for shopping or south to charming Balingup, home
of the scarecrows. Glen Mervyn dam is not far away and the
beautiful vast native and planted forests stretch from here to the
south coast.
Around Donnybrook are the orchards for which it is famous. Apples,
pears, stone fruits and citrus are the traditional crops. Nowdays
you will see rows of grape vines and olive groves as well. A stroll
along the shady banks of Donnybrook's Preston River is worth doing
any time of the year.
What's new?
The Donnybrook Apple Festival
is on again over the 3rd and 4th of April. The Art Show will be
open all the preceding week as well. There'll be lots happening.
Check the Apple Festival website soon for more
details.
Donnybrook Visitor
Centre has a new website with all the information you'll
need for a terrific weekend in this area. Check it out at
www.donnybrookwa.com.au
Simmo's ice cream comes to
Donnybrook! Yes, as an annex to the B&B. How good is
that?!
Our recently planted
Indigenous Sculpture Park is underway,
near the swing bridge. The giant Waugyl sculpture will be installed
by March, we hope!
Have you visited the popular Apple Fun Park yet? Simmos ice cream is
available opposite the park (October to June).
See which wildflowers were
out last September and October on the photo page.
